How can I Connect to Our Email Server?
To configure the system for users, enter all SMTP and IMAP settings to connect to your email server.
Users will need to enter their name and password using the Configure Email option: My Profile > Profile Settings > Configure Email
Your IT team should be able to provide your mail server's SMTP and IMAP information. All SMTP and IMAP settings are required for the email configuration to take effect.
Sending Email
SMTP Host: This is the host of the SMTP server configured for this app. If this is not configured, then it will not be possible to send emails through the platform unless they are configured at the user level.
SMTP Port #: This is the port that should be used to connect to the SMTP email server when sending emails through the platform.
SMTP Security Type: The type of transport security to use when connecting to the SMTP server. The possible values for this are 'PLAIN', 'TLS', AND 'TLS_REQUIRED'. If using 'PLAIN', then the server will attempt to use STARTTLS, but will not require it. If this option is selected, then the server will not validate the email server certificate either. The 'PLAIN' option is not recommended as it is very weak security. If using 'TLS', then the server will attempt to use the 'smtps' protocol to connect to the email server. This will result in the connection being encapsulated in TLS and will strictly validate the email server certificate. If using 'TLS_REQUIRED' then the server will use the 'smtp' protocol with STARTTLS and require the use of TLS. This option will also strictly validate the email server certificate.
Receiving Email
IMAP Host: This is the host of the IMAP or POP server configured for this app. If this is not configured then it will not be possible for the user level configurations to reference the company email server and the email host, port, and transport security will need to be configured for every user in order for the system to retrieve emails from their account.
IMAP Port #: This is the port that should be used to connect to the IMAP or POP email server when retrieving emails through the platform. If this is not configured then it will not be possible for the user level configurations to reference the company email server and the email host, port, and transport security will need to be configured for every user in order for the system to retrieve emails from their account.
IMAP Security Type: The type of transport security to use when connecting to the IMAP or POP3 server. The possible values for this are 'PLAIN', 'TLS', and 'TLS_REQUIRED'. If using 'PLAIN', then the server will attempt to use STARTTLS, but will not require it. If this option is selected the server will not validate the email server certificate either. The 'PLAIN' option is not recommended as it is very weak security. If using 'TLS', then the server will attempt to use the 'IMAPs' or 'POP3s' protocol to connect to the email server. This will result in teh connection being encapsulated in TLS and will strictly validate the email server certificate. If using 'TLS_REQUIRED', then the server will use the 'IMAP' or 'POP3' protocol with STARTTLS and require the use of TLS. This option will also strictly validate the email server certificate.
IMAP Email Server Protocol Type: The type of email server to connect to when retrieving emails. The possible values for this are 'IMAP' and 'POP'. If this is not configured then it will not be possible for the user level configurations to reference the company email server and the email host, port, and transport security will need to be configured for every user in order for the system to retrieve emails from their account.
